Google Apps Single Sign-on (SSO) and OAuth Authentication services will only work for web based applications
Google's SSO solution only applies to web applications. If you want to enable your users to access Google services with desktop clients, you will still need to provide your users with usable passwords and synchronize those passwords with your internal user database using the Provisioning API. If the client is a standalone single-user "installed" client (such as a desktop application), then you should use the ClientLogin Interface system.
